“If I ever opened a trampoline store, I don’t think I’d call it Trampo-Land, because you might think it was a store for tramps, which is not the impression we are trying to convey with our store. On the other hand, we would not prohibit tramps from browsing, or testing the trampolines, unless a tramp’s gyrations seemed to be getting out of control.”

Information Architecture
Blueprints for the Web
Christina Wodtke
I’ve been reading a good book as of late. The book, Information Architecture, Blueprints for the Web, has opened my eyes to a few things that I tend to overlook as a developer. The book was written by Christina Wodtke and is available via New Riders.
The book is along the same lines as Don’t Make Me Think, by Steve Krug. If you found that book to be eye-opening, you’ll probably share the same feelings about this one.
The book will introduce or refresh some of the core concepts of information architecture including: organizing web content, designing web interaction and creating easy to understand web interfaces. Remember, buildings are built with architecture, so should web sites.

“The fact that no one understands you doesn’t make you an artist.”
Just a little something to ponder.
Summer tunes
July 16th, 2005
With summer upon us, it’s the time we often find ourselves hosting friends over for relaxing evenings and good times. I think everyone will agree that a little good music soothes the soul and can breath life into the dullest of gatherings. Below I’ve listed a few of my favorite summer albums.
- Jamie Cullum, Twentysomething
- Jack Johnson, In Between Dreams
- Franz Ferdinand, Franz Ferdinand
- Kings of Leon, Youth & Young Manhood
- Pixies, Surfer Rosa
- The Shins, Oh, Inverted World
Enjoy the tunes and your summer festivities.
