There was once a time when film festivals, like The Sundance Film Festival, were about independent film makers making indie films. It was a time when budgets were small, but the ideas and dreams were big. Few events like this remain today and one of the best is the San Francisco IndieFest.
While the dates have pasted for the actual event, I encourage you to check out this site for some great indie films, news, and upcoming events.
Anyone know of other great indie film resources?

South by Southwest, Toronto Film Festival and our own Ann Arbor Film Festival is actually pretty darn cool.
I’ve heard nothing but great things about the Toronto Film Festival, but I’ve never made it there.
I know you east siders like to berate us and all, but each year there’s a film festival at MSU, which I believe is called the “East Lansing Film Festival”… Good times!
Ah the East Lansing Fikm Festival, yes. They’ve hosted great cinematic gems such as Bottleflies and other Agricultural Pests, Modern Rutabaga Harvesting and Sex and the Single Aphid.
