Quality Products

Here’s a quick tip to all the retailers out there: If you’d like me to buy a product, please ensure that the product on display isn’t broken. It’s extremely difficult for you to sell me on a product that I can’t see working in your store. I understand that several people, possibly hundreds, touch, play with, and attempt to use this product on display, but that should be all the more reason for you to keep your displays working (it’s called product durability). If I see something broken on display, I typically avoid it, as if it’s broken in your store, it may very well break in my home.

What beefs do you have with/about retailers?

The approach of the “helpful” “sales associate”.

“How may I help you, sir?”

“Just looking around,” I say, thinking “get the f*&^ away from me; I know what I’m looking for.”

Agreed. Oftentimes, the “friendly salesperson” is standing around chatting with other useless salespeople and is counting on you to say,”just looking” so they can resume their conversation about how they lost their underwear at the bar last night.

When I can tell they do not want to help me, I intentionally make them help me and ask pointless questions about stock items that, “I saw here last month” so they have to go on wild gooschases through the catalogs. Petty, but wildly satisfying.

Simply the fact that I used to work for one for 5 years. I have plenty of beefs!
