I was recently asked what I thought about censorship on the web. Honestly, I haven’t given it much thought until now. Maybe because I’m 31 years old and smart enough to determine that if I’m reading something offensive, I stop reading. I have the ability to choose what to read and what to write. I use a little common sense when I write something here. I understand the fact that you the reader, have every right to disagree and tell me I’m wrong. Often you do and often I walk away learning something new or having my eyes opened to a new experience. This freedom is invaluable.
I’m all for allowing people to write whatever they want, whenever they want to. I don’t believe the answer to everything online is censorship. Most people pay for their little peice of the web and with that comes responsibility. I can only leave it to each and everyone to police themselves without having to be censored.
As for this little site, I just ask that you respect your fellow friends, family, co-workers and bloggers and use a little common sense while visting the web.

I believe online censorship only ever has a place when: a) content is in some way illegal and involving minors, b) content is nothing but pure hatred, like racist or anti-semite propaganda. I would rather not encounter any of that crap at all and would welcome the day when searchengines like google seek out and ban it all (probably won’t happen though).
