Coffee is essential

Monday, February 20th, 2006

This morning I realized how much I need coffee to get going. I realized that I must be a real pain-in-the-arse to all those I work with who try and interact with me before I’ve had my morning java. I’ll spare you the details as to how I found out, but it was enough to be quite clear.

I, like the many masses, prefer to start my day off with coffee and when I don’t, I (and probably you) can tell I haven’t yet had coffee. Let me apologize in advance, cause if it hasn’t happened yet, one day it might. Now move out of the way, as I need my java.

Quality Products

Here’s a quick tip to all the retailers out there: If you’d like me to buy a product, please ensure that the product on display isn’t broken. It’s extremely difficult for you to sell me on a product that I can’t see working in your store. I understand that several people, possibly hundreds, touch, play with, and attempt to use this product on display, but that should be all the more reason for you to keep your displays working (it’s called product durability). If I see something broken on display, I typically avoid it, as if it’s broken in your store, it may very well break in my home.

What beefs do you have with/about retailers?

Four people who receive mail at my house, that I didn’t know lived there:

  1. Current Resident
  2. Valued Customer
  3. Instant Winner
  4. Homeowner

Who’s receiving mail at your house?

Easy to fail…

I came across this quote while working on an article and felt compelled to share, as it sums up so much in the areas of design and usability.

“It is easy to fail when designing an interactive experience. Designers fail when they do not know the audience, integrate the threads of content and context, welcome the public properly, or make clear what the experience is and what the audience’s role in it will be.”
