Come on spring

March 1st, 2006

Last night, for the first time in a while, I did something that made me realize how much I miss warm weather. I decided to clean the mountain bike. Not that I’m going for a ride anytime soon, since we can’t seem to get out of the 20’s for high temps, but because I couldn’t sleep and the bike was there, in all it’s dirty glory. Mud left over from the last ride. The front reflector still broken from the last crash of the season. Rims covered in dust and those few loose pebbles stuck in the tires.

I can’t wait for the warmer days when I can hop on and put in one of those 20+ milers I’ve been known to put in. I miss the days waking up early and getting in a ride before work or first thing on the weekend.

I know it’s a long way off, but at least my bike will be clean(er) when that first warmer day rolls around.

Do you ride at Stony Creek? That’s my favorite course.

I haven’t made it out to Stoney Creek yet, but last year my favorite courses were Maybury and Lakeshore park.

Of course if you’re really into beating the stuffing out of yourself, look no further than Pontiac Lake, that trail is a beast!
