Dylan’s cross-over personality
May 26th, 2006
In an article released by the Associated Press, Cate Blanchett has been chosen to portray the legendary Bob Dylan in an upcoming movie titled I’m Not There. She’ll portray a specific aspect of Dylan’s personality, embodied by an androgynous singer-songwriter character named Jude, according to Killer Films, the movie’s production company.
Others who have signed on to appear in the film are: Heath Ledger and his girlfriend Michelle Williams, along with Christian Bale, Julianne Moore and Richard Gere.
Snail Mail, but we’re sorry
May 24th, 2006
I received a small zip-lock bag type package in the mail a couple days back from the USPS. It included a note and a card. The note stated:
We’re sorry that a package addressed to you had been damaged during shipping. We take pride and great strides to ensure that all packages arrive safely and on-time…
Strange. Especially since I haven’t been expecting anything. I opened the enclosed card, only to find that it was a Christmas card that must have gotten lost in the mail around the holidays. The postmark on the card was December 30, 2005.
Hmm… no wonder email has become so popular.
Rusty entertainment
May 22nd, 2006

I’m not really sure why people put more money into an entertainment system for their car than the car is really worth. Over the weekend, I pulled up behind a late 80’s Ford Ranger pickup truck whose nickname could have been “rusty”. What caught my eye was the shiny, bright DVD player that was mounted inside the cab of the truck. I would think that the owner should have spent a little more money on the bondo to keep the truck from having more holes than swiss cheese, but hey, I guess everyone needs to be entertained.
Successful openings
May 21st, 2006
To say the opening of the new Apple store in NYC has been a success, is a bit of an understatement. With things like Steve Jobs showing up, people waiting over 41 hours in line, and even a few marriage proposals, Apple NYC has success written all over it.
Seems everywhere you look and read online, the big topic is the store opening. While I think Apple deserves the hype, I’m a little taken back by the sheer amount of hype out there. This just serves the point that Apple has some of the most loyal customers in all of the retail sector. I can”t remember the last time people waiting 41 hours in line for a Windows OS. Oh wait, it’s been so long since they released one, we’ve all forgotten. I’m interested to see when (eventually, we’re told) Vista ships, how much hoopla and fanfare will surround the release. I guess a couple more years and we’ll be able to compare.
