For all the engineering types in the crowd, The New York Times has an article posted today listing some of the biggest engineering disasters in history. Some of the disasters include: the levees bursting from Hurricane Katrina, the Space Shuttle Columbia and the failure of the Teton Dam in 1976.
While all these items seem to have a negative impact on society and the engineers who were involved, they have also lead to improvements in the way engineers design, build and work on many of the modern advancements we have today.
