Netizens dig digg

June 23rd, 2006

Lot’s of people like digg. So much so that digg has begun to rival large online newspapers like the New York Times in daily traffic. What’s even more impressive is that digg accomplishes this with a staff of 15. Roughly 800,000 unique visitors pass through the pages of digg each day, which in turn, generate nearly 9 million page views. Traffic has been doubling to the site every two months and at the moment the sky is the limit.

While I’m a fan of digg and consider myself a frequent visitor and feed subscriber, I’d like to know what you the audience like most about digg? What is it that separates digg from the rest?

If you happen to be looking for a cool new widget, the iStat nano may be for you. I’ve been using this little guy for a couple of days now to keep tabs on my mac’s performance. This tidy little widget packs lots of features into a small package. Some of the features include:

  • CPU bar meter
  • Memory bar meter
  • Primary disk space bar meter
  • In and out bandwidth
  • CPU temperature

The nano is available as freeware from the great folks over at iSlayer.

Browser mania

June 21st, 2006

Seems a lot has been happening in the world of browsers this week.

First on Monday, Opera released version 9. With this update a few new features were released and they include:

  • built-in BitTorrent client
  • the ability to add your favorite search engines to the Opera search bar
  • thumbnail previews of tabs when hovering over them

just to name a few of the updates.

Second, Camino released version 1.02 into the wild fixing several security holes and rendering issues seeen on a few sites.

If you’re a fan of either one of these browsers, looks like you’re in for some updating fun. Enjoy.

Congratulations to all the Carolina Hurricane hockey fans back home in the Carolinas. Lots of folks have laughed since hockey came to the Carolinas, but now Raleigh is home to The Stanley Cup winning Carolina Hurricanes.
