What’s in your toolkit?

One item each and every cyclist should carry is a toolkit. The toolkit can come in handy and usually does when you least think you’ll need it. If you don’t carry a toolkit, you can pick them up relatively cheap at any of the top bike shops or online retailers.

A few essentials you should pack in your toolkit are:

  • a tube
  • a patch kit
  • tire levers
  • spoke wrench
  • a variety of Allen wrenches or a multi-tool
  • chain tool

You’ll also need a good pump. To keep these items from rattling around while riding, be sure and buy a small wedgepack or saddlepack. If you have left-over space, stuff the space with a bandana or extra socks (they may come in handy).

What other goodies do you pack into your toolkit?
