As the hockey (yes, it’s that time of year) camps open, a few big newsworthy items from the past couple of days.
Anson Carter signs with the Blue Jackets.
Carter signs a one-year deal with the Jackets after coming off his career best (33) goals-scored season in Vancouver.
Keith Primeau announces his retirement.
After being told he wouldn’t be able to pass a physical due to the many concussions suffered on the years, Primeau announces his retirement. Primeau played 15 seasons in the NHL, after being drafted by the Red Wings in 1990.
Rick DiPietro signs his life away.
Rick DiPietro, the 25 year old goalie has elected to remain on Long Island for a long time to come. DiPietro signed a 15 year contract with the New York Islanders.
And most importantly, Red Wings camp opens on the 15th.
