Songs from the Past
November 16th, 2006
Music is an interesting thing. In a time when listening to the radio consists of hearing the same songs every couple of hours, you get used to hearing the same songs over and over. Today, I heard a few songs that I haven’t heard in years. I’ve decided to list those below.
- Queen of Hearts by Juice Newton
- 867-5309 (Jenny) by Tommy Tutone
- Karma Chameleon by Culture Club
- Ghostbusters by Ray Parker Jr.
- Electric Avenue by Eddie Grant
What songs have you heard recently that had slipped from your mind?
Things about Philly
November 15th, 2006
A few things I’ve learned about Philadelphia over the past few weeks:
- Great food (yes, cheesesteak)
- People watching is amusing
- Area of great history
- Beautiful countryside
- Short train ride away from New York
- Horrible airport
If it weren’t for that last one, Philly would a-okay!
A new Sheff in Detroit
November 10th, 2006

The Tigers go out and acquire oft injured and outspoken outfielder Gary Sheffield from the Yankees for three pitching prospects. The Tigers add a lifetime .297 hitter, 455 homers and 1,501 RBI’s. While Sheffield is an asset to the outfield, I think the biggest impact will come as a hitter. Manager Jim Leyland says of Sheffield:
“We have been able to add one of the biggest bats in baseball. I have a great relationship with Gary Sheffield and I have the utmost respect for him. I’m happy to add a bat of this magnitude and that he’ll be a Tiger.”
The Tigers are signed to a deal with Sheffield through the 2009 season.
Winter Fashion Rocks
November 9th, 2006

It’s not quite winter here in Michigan, but it’s just around the corner. I noticed on my way home tonight that some folks are beginning to prepare. As I stopped for gas, I noticed another fella across the way pumping gas into his van. Not so strange you say, but wait, it gets better.
The guy was wearing the old stand-by Trappers Hat (see image on the right). You know the one I’m talking about. The one with the leather ear flaps that looks like a cross between an old-skool football helmet and those helmets worn by fighter pilots in those open cockpit fighter planes. Anyways, I guess they serve the purpose and look good doing it.
Seen any other good fashion statements as of late?
