Last night I had the opportunity to watch one of the greatest sporting events. The NHL All-Star game was played in Dallas to a sold-out crowd of 18,532.
The final score was 12-9 with the West being the victors, but the game was only part of the story. In a game that introduced the new uniforms of the NHL, a new camera that was mounted on the glass, and players that were wired with microphones, goalie Marty Turco stole the show. Not only was Turco mic’ed up, he provided commentary while actually deflecting shots. He made comments on the shots he saved and the shot that got by him.
Turco provided the kind of down-to-earth, boost-in-the-arm energy that hockey fans love. During a break, Turco gave his stick to young boy sitting behind the bench.
In a game where everyone was a star, Turco shown bright and proved to everyone why hockey is the greatest sport on earth. Thanks Marty for making the NHL All-Star game special again.
