In the bike business
February 15th, 2008
In an article published yesterday, Austin360 reports that Lance Armstrong is soon to be in the bike shop business.
In May, Armstrong is planning on opening a bike shop in downtown Austin that will consist of a bike shop, commuting center, training facility and cafe. The name for the shop is said to be Mellow Johnny’s.
The shop will focus on the bike commuter. The shop will sell:
commuter bikes, mountain bikes, triathlon bikes, fixed-gear bikes, low-riders, cruiser-style bikes and even hand-made “art bikes” that look as good hanging on a wall as they do rolling down the street.
Only time will tell if the shop is a success, but I’m betting it’ll be an overnight success.

This is going to be a great success. In fact I believe as gas prices continue to climb and people become more aware of the impact car pollution is having they will gravitate towards bicycles. A place that is bike friendly is a great idea.

Agreed. Now if only more cities would embrace the bike culture, we’d make huge strides in both cleaning up the environment and improving the health and fitness of citizens.
