Frank feedback
May 21st, 2008
Today’s post is about frank feedback. No, frank feedback is not a person, at least that I know of. If so, Frank can you please leave a comment? By frank feedback, I mean true, open, honest feedback that you provide in a blog post, a comment, on a survey or in an email.
We’ve all bought into the theory that people are more open and honest when it comes to sharing their opinions online. It’s been said that people open up and say things online they normally wouldn’t say in a focus group or face to face with another person.
So with this being the ‘accepted truth’, my question to you is:
Do you provide frank feedback when leaving a comment or sharing your opinion online, or do you tame comments to match the tone of those around you?

I typically provide frank feedback, though in the context of “professionalism.” I’m tempted at times to lash out in a more vituperative fashion (my gut instinct) but I’ve found that’s rarely productive and not terribly helpful overall given that I use my business information 90% of the time.

Quite frankly mr Macemore, I don’t like the tone you’re taking with me. Why didn’t you bring this up in the focus group last thursday? Honestly, I’m not even going to bother commenting on this post!
