I’ve been a huge fan of Patagonia products for some time now. I’ve learned that spending a little more in the beginning can save you time, money and frustration in the end when you’ve beaten the living hell out of a product and it keeps up. Bring in Patagonia products.

Over at The Cleanest Line, the Patagonia blog, they’ve posted an excellent article discussing how they handle product feedback on a product. It’s good to see that not only do they listen to users concerns, but they even take the time to write blog posts outlining the process and even show you the changes, based on feedback, incorporated into new versions of their products.

I’ve recently been considering the product being discussed, so it’s nice to see all the feedback and improvements that have gone into making this product the best it can be.

It’s great to see articles and companies like this who aren’t afraid to step out there and share the process with the consumer and openly acknowledge customer feedback. Patagonia, keep up the good work.

So first things first, checked my mail and then I fired up the new version by going to http://m.gmail.com to get the full Gmail experience. I must say, wow. It’s clean, crisp and user-friendly.

If you’re a practicing IA or just getting started, this goodie has some great material that you’ll find yourself referring back to time and time again. I’ve cracked it open several times today, just to show people the goodness.

Secondly, designing the obvious by Robert Hoekman Jr, was the other goodie packaged along side it. This book is a perfect example of the simple things that are often overlooked and allows us to recognize how quickly things become overcomplicated.

My advice, buy them both. Read them both. Pass them along to your coworkers and practice what they preach. The world will be a better place.
